Previously an industrial warehouse, Plot 6 is an urban intervention project that seeks to revitalize Industrial Shuwaikh and introduce a youthful character into the site. The project brief calls for the development of the site while enhancing its existing industrial quality. Drawing on the site’s existing infrastructure, Plot 6 aims to create a series of minimal interventions with maximum impact in order to upgrade the site and spaces around it.
The project’s existing site condition has a distinctive industrial character. Consisting of a main street-facing elevation and two long “alleys” - spaces in this project were previously ware-houses and factories but now consist mostly of retail shops, cafes, and gyms. These retail units, however, have adopted individualistic branding to their store-fronts resulting in a lack of visual consistency along the site.
GRC Cladding
The project’s new GRC cladding system aims to unify the look and feel of the main elevation while providing shading and privacy to the tenants and offices on the upper floors. The cladding wraps the existing infrastructure with a skin-like substructure, requiring minimal change to the existing structure, but dramatically enhancing the feel of the site.

Plot 6 further enhances the public realm by activating the two “alleys” between the main buildings - allowing for pedestrians to circulate, socialize, and gather. In order to merge the existing site with the new intervention, the design employs unified signage, public art, and lighting design. The result is a site with a strong visual identity that enhances and unifies the existing character of the site with the new intervention.
